The Bible is a Living Word of God
The Bible is about God, people, us, faith and our salvation history. Through the Bible, we get to know our God, His character, His purpose in creating, redeeming, sanctifying us, and what He wants us to do. The Bible consists of narratives of real men and women – all chosen to play a role in God’s saving plan. The purpose of such stories is to give us the spiritual and religious significance and thus glorify God. The Bible is not just a collection of religious stories, it is a book of faith which grew from a believing community; it is the living witness to God’s love for us- our salvation; and the central source of his revelation of himself to mankind. The Bible has been written precisely to convey God’s eternal and perennial message of love and salvation for all. The Bible provides us with a unique and irreplaceable means to understand the true meaning of what is happening in our lives. More than any other book in the world, the Bible reaches every age and every nation because salvation, faith and belief in God are as universal and present today as love itself. Thus, the Bible is a God-inspired basis for all that has been said and will ever be said by Christians about God, the Bible itself is the living word of God. “Indeed, the word of God is living and effective, sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating even between soul and spirit, joints and marrow, and able to discern reflections and thoughts of the heart” – Heb 4:12

This was written by my son Alexis for his Christian Living Education(C.L.E.) class; one of his very first assignments in Ateneo High School. I posted (unedited) this as a way of appreciating his effort and conviction to cope up with high school life. Yesterday, I was in Ateneo to witness the recognition of students who excelled in academics and deportment for the first grading period ; I was one of those proud parents, awed, teary-eyed as my son walked up on stage to receive his certificate (third honors) for exemplary academic performance. Congratulation Son...keep it up! Hitch your wagon to the stars!
